Duality Essay

Back in the day, when I was in Girl Scouts and went to camp every summer with the same girls, I met a girl from a different elementary school that was in my same camp group almost every year. We got along so well because we were both weird kids in girl scouts together. Years later, in junior high, we were reunited again in the same gym class and we had common friends between the two of us. After being casual friends in junior high and some of high school it was our junior year when we realized that we were each other kindred spirits (or so her mom said).
After years after gaining a sister-like bond we chose to be roommates together. The news of us being roommates sounded like a bad idea to everyone in the world except for us. Our families said that we would hate each other after the first week but it’s been a whole semester and we are together almost 24/7. This goes to show that we are long lost sister (in our opinion).
Danielle and I go on adventures together. That makes us sound like we’re twelve years old but sometimes we act like it. I can think of one specific story that defines our relationship. Our parents really wanted both of us to go through sorority recruitment but Danielle and I had different plans. Since we were going through recruitment we got to move into our dorm earlier than the rest of the freshman class. We already knew that we did not want to be in sororities so instead of going to bed early because we were going to have an early day of sorority stuff, we went to a concert and spent the night at a friends house so we would not have to sneak back into our dorm although that requires no sneaking at all we thought we would get in trouble for going back so late. By the time we got back to our dorm in the morning it was before all the girls were supposed to leave so after we got to our room and fell back asleep we had a bunch of recruitment ladies and sorority girls banging on our door telling us to get up and go to recruitment. But being the sneaky twelve-year-old girls we are, we ignored them and went back to sleep.
That story makes me think about how similar we are. All we wanted to do was listen to music, hang out with friends, and sleep. We’re the same person and I Love it.
